1.1. Introduction

Brief presentation of the subject

Didáctica de la Geometría is a 6 ECTS compulsory course, and is taught in the second term of the second year of the degree. Didáctica de la Aritmética I, Didáctica de la Aritmética II y Didáctica de la Geometría form the subject Enseñanza y aprendizaje de las Matemáticas whose goal is the mathematical training of the prospective Primary school teacher, both in the mathematical and didactical aspects of the knowledge.

 

Syllabus of the subject

  • Identification of geometric objects (plane figures and space solids).
  • Transformations/movements in plane and space. Equality and symmetry.
  • Design and construction of geometric figures.
  • Analysis of the relationships between the geometric objects and between its elements.
  • Measure of geometric magnitudes. Similarity.
  • Location in plane and space
  • Geometric reasoning: To define, classify, conjecture and proof.
  • Modeling the world through geometry.
  • Didactical resources and situations for the teaching of Geometry in Primary Education.

5. You should be able to study and design didactical resources and activities for the teaching and learning of geometry in Primary Education.
